Carletonville motors – Evette Buitendag
Carletonville is a small mining town within the North-West and named after Guy Carleton Jones, a local mining director. By 1979 Western Deep Levels Ltd. operated the world’s deepest gold mine in the locality. The mining industry started crumbling which led to mine closures, resulting in loss of income to so many in the area. Times are difficult for all of us and Evette saw the need to jump in and help where she can with what she has. Evette has a little bakery that is operating in the shop at Carletonville motors service station. Evette has since started running with two projects within the community both involving fresh bread that is being baked in her bakery daily.
The first project is with SAVF Deurgangshuis, a non-profit organization that currently helps feed 72 people daily, Evette gives 12 loafs of bread to the organization daily to aid with the project. The second project is with feeding the children in the community. This project involves a lot of helping hands in the community that came together to try and make sure no child goes to bed on an empty stomach. Evette and her team contributes 30 loafs of bread daily for this cause.
Evette has been in the petroleum industry for an astonishing 22 years and shows that a little love and care can make your journey so much easier. Times are tough, but we are tougher.
