Marlene Moss- Circle motors & Jakaranda Service Station

Marlene and her husband first entered the petroleum industry in September 1997 when she was just 26 years old.

The new challenge came with its own concerns and the words of Leticia Carbaja gave Marlene the inspiration she needed to take this on –

Whatever you do, be different. Don’t try to imitate a man, be more ambitions.  Be persevering and trust yourself.

Don’t fear failure.  Dare and get what you want as an independent woman who does not let herself be influenced by what others might think”

It is now 23 years later and both service stations are thriving, all of this accomplished whilst raising two wonderfully unique and inspirational young men showing that it is possible to have the best of both worlds.

Marlene’s drive is not only reflected in her business but also in the personal challenges she takes on. She has a passion for cycling and has completed her 10th Argus and 94.7 race, she also completed the Toyota Warrior race. She also shows her support to the community by partaking in races such as the Cycle for Bible race, Cansa Cycle and many more and to top it off she enjoys playing golf in her free time.

“We are struggling for a uniting world, but the good news is that we have a uniting movement.  It is called HeForShe.  I am inviting everyone to step forward, to be seen and to ask yourself – if not me..who? If not now..when? to give a helping hand and to uplift people will always help you to remember who you are”

“I don’t believe in being a boss, I believe in being a leader.  A leader shows how it’s done, develops people, gives credit, asks, says “lets go”, Leadership is action, not position. I do not wish women to have power over men, but over themselves”
